Bass Phillip - One of Australia's Best Pinot Noir Producers
Easy-drinking Pinot Noirs with sweet plum fruits, softness and balance. These wines always have the characteristic regional “palate length”. Our Crown Prince wines come from the Leongatha vineyard; planted in 1996 this vineyard shows regional typicity and also supplies fruit for the Estate wines. This wine comes from the major part of the Leongatha vineyard.
An established restaurant favourite. Good value for money. Often scored 95/100 by the critics. This one has the most burgundian structure of all the Crown Prince pinots: long & gentle tannins. Quite fresh and balanced. Popular “by-the-glass” wine in many restaurants.
A broad spectrum of rich fruits sitting on a platform of complex acidity, which make this wine very food-friendly. Without the great length of our top three pinots, this Crown Prince lingers with clean, spicey, complex flavours …. very satisfying on its own or with most main-course dishes. Suitable to drink now, or over the next five years. (Phillip Jones 2019)
Tasting Notes: There’s a very floral and gently sappy edge to the nose with crushed roses and light red cherries. The palate has a very bright, strawberry and wild-cherry edge. Fine and bright. Drink now.
